The president said Iran should assume the ceasefire remains in force. Commenting on the attack by Iranian forces on a Korean bulk carrier in the Persian Gulf, he added that he would expect Seoul to immediately send its own forces to the region in response to the incident.
The US leader also downplayed the importance of the strike on Fujairah – the first against the United Arab Emirates since the ceasefire. He noted that most of the drones and missiles launched were intercepted, except for one. The journalist asked whether the US should not overreact to these events. Donald Trump replied that Iran should not act like that and the situation remains under control.
The authorities of the United Arab Emirates did not agree with Trump's assessment, calling the attack a serious escalation. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Emirates criticized Iran's resumption of “unprovoked, terrorist attacks.” [ataków]targeting the civilian population”.
