Writer Edward Radzinsky was scammed out of 45 million rubles by scammers. Almost in the same way as the artist Nikas Safronov a month ago.
According to Mash, the scammers called the playwright after his creative evening on July 9. They introduced themselves as Wikipedia employees and said that they wanted to update information about him on the site. Radzinsky said that he had no time for that and hung up. After that, he received a call from an alleged FSB officer. Then – according to the classics: psychological tricks, discussion of “what only those closest can know,” and a pack of manipulations – they said that the scammers want to steal and transfer to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Radzinsky’s money accumulated for an apartment.
The writer got scared and was hooked. A few days later, he took all 45 million rubles from the bank and handed them over to a “trusted employee of the Federal Security Service.” The police identified the courier and detained him – he turned out to be a 19-year-old student.
On June 24, Nikas Safronov was scammed in a similar way – the scammers also introduced themselves as Wikipedia employees. But then they used a different scenario – instead of a direct scam, IT specialists from the Internet encyclopedia hacked his “State Services”, WhatsApp account and, on behalf of Nikas, began asking other celebrities to transfer money to the left account. Everyone was saved by the vigilance of Oleg Gazmanov.
