Robert Ilyeș, the coach of Csikszereda, offered the first conclusions after his team defeated the defending champion FCSB, in a match in stage #7 of the play-out.

Robert Ilyeș was satisfied with the evolution of his students and revealed how he managed to defeat the leader in the play-out.

“The set-pieces are their weakness,” the coach said. Also, Ilyeș spoke a little about the chances of the Cicuans to play in European cups.

Robert Ilyeș reacted after FCSB – Csikszereda 1-0: “The goal phase was thought out in training”

“I came when they were in League 4 and now I'm proud to have beaten the Romanian champion. It's been about 15 years since I've been here. It's a satisfaction. I'm happy for our audience and our community.

The gap phase was thought of in training. FCSB had 14.15 corners, we stayed well, we closed the gate. It is also the credit of my colleague who reads the opponent and works out what schemes we do. We work a lot with fixed phases. That's how I prepared.

We knew we wouldn't have clear chances to score. We took advantage of their weakness and Csuros scored more three-point goals. He is a very good player in weak moments. Their weakness is defensively in fixed phases. I analyzed them well. We trained for two days for this.

It depends on the match in Arad, if we win, we can talk about the playoff for European cups. Until then it's a long way off. Botoșani hasn't played for now and I can't make any other comments”, said Robert Ilyeș in the flash interview from Digi Sport.

  • Robert Ilyeș came to Csikszereda as a player in 2012 and played until 2018. Coaching at first in the area, at Sepsi, as second, but at Csikszereda he debuted as “main” in 2023.

  • Only 4 teams from the play-out received a license to participate in European cups: FCSB, Botoșani, Csikszereda and Farul.
