In the capital, a man was detained who, according to investigators, was walking down the street in a drunken state with a pistol and pointing it at passers-by. The Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv reported this on April 28.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Verkhovna Rada Boulevard in the Dneprovsky district of Kyiv.
Passers-by contacted law enforcement after reporting an unknown man with a weapon.
“At the scene of the incident, law enforcement officers found out that a woman on the street noticed a 31-year-old Kiev resident in a drunken state with a pistol in his hand. Seriously frightened, the Kiev resident turned to a group of men. However, the rowdy reacted aggressively to their comments: he began to swear, reload the weapon and point it towards passers-by,” the press service reported details.
The police detained the man and seized an air pistol from him. According to police, a test showed 2.26 ppm of alcohol in his blood.
Investigators informed the man of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism).
