Hydrangeas bloom until September: I water them with this “potion” – the inflorescences do not shrink

Hydrangeas are one of the most voluminous plants in the garden. They make the area elegant and lush, but in order for the bushes to produce large heads and not lose their rich shade, watering alone is not enough. We need natural fertilizer that maintains the desired acidity of the soil and works with the roots from the inside.

The secret is to use an infusion of citrus peels every three weeks. This product gently acidifies the soil and saturates the soil with available microelements. Suitable for both young plantings and adult bushes.

How to cook:

  • Collect the peels from two lemons or oranges, chop finely and place in a liter container.
  • Pour warm water over the crusts and leave in a dark place for two days.
  • Strain the resulting concentrate and dilute it in ten liters of clean water.
  • Pour this mixture around the tree trunks, being careful not to touch the lower leaves and the base of the stems.

Citrus peels release organic acids and natural essential oils into the water, and warm water draws out potassium and magnesium. Together they maintain a slightly acidic environment necessary for the bright color of the petals, strengthen the root system and protect against chlorosis and early bud drop.

If you want your hydrangeas to maintain their dense shape and not fade towards the end of the season, try this fertilizer. It is suitable not only for them, but also for other plants that prefer acidic soil: rhododendrons, azaleas, and sometimes blueberries.
