Another price cut in Orlen. Diesel is cheaper for the fifth time in a week

On Tuesday, Orlen reduced wholesale fuel prices, including Ekodiesel diesel oil by PLN 151 and unleaded Eurosuper 95 petrol by PLN 40 per cubic meter. – according to data published by the company. Previously, on Saturday, both of these basic fuels also became cheaper.

According to Orlen's wholesale price list, on Tuesday Ekodiesel diesel oil costs PLN 5,000. PLN 953 per cubic meter, i.e. PLN 151 less than after the last correction, and unleaded Eurosuper 95 petrol costs PLN 5,000. PLN 212 per cubic meter. – PLN 40 less than after the last correction.
On Saturday, the company also reduced wholesale fuel prices – Ekodiesel diesel oil by PLN 143, to PLN 6,000. PLN 104 per cubic meter, and unleaded Eurosuper 95 petrol by PLN 35, up to PLN 5,000. PLN 252 per cubic meter.
In the case of Ekodiesel diesel oil, it became five times cheaper at Orlen's wholesale prices last week.
From March 31, all stations in Poland have maximum fuel prices, temporarily introduced as part of the government regulatory package “Fuel Prices Lower”, intended to limit the increase in prices of these products. These prices are determined based on the average wholesale price of these products on the domestic market, plus excise duty, fuel surcharge, as well as a sales margin of PLN 0.30 per liter and VAT.
According to the announcement of the Minister of Energy on maximum prices, on Tuesday at stations a liter of unleaded 95 petrol costs no more than PLN 6, unleaded 98 petrol – PLN 6.54, and diesel oil – PLN 6.92. This means a decrease in the maximum prices of both fuels compared to the maximum prices applicable from Saturday to Monday, when a liter of unleaded 95 gasoline cost PLN 6.03, unleaded 98 gasoline – PLN 6.57, and diesel oil – PLN 7.07.
Maximum fuel prices are announced by the Ministry of Energy in a daily announcement, but they apply from the day following their publication in Monitor Polski. If announced before non-working days and holidays, they are valid until the next business day inclusive.
On the first day of maximum fuel prices at stations, i.e. March 31, in the case of unleaded 95 gasoline it was no more than PLN 6.16, for unleaded 98 gasoline – PLN 6.76, and for diesel oil – PLN 7.60.
The attack by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28 resulted in an increase in global crude oil prices and finished fuel prices in the following days, which translated into retail prices of these products at gas stations, including in Poland. On the day of the outbreak of this conflict, the wholesale price of Ekodiesel diesel oil in Orlen was PLN 4,000. PLN 809 per cubic meter, i.e. PLN 1,000. PLN 144 less than currently, while unleaded Eurosuper 95 petrol – PLN 4,000. PLN 466 per cubic meter, i.e. PLN 746 less than currently.
According to brokers, oil prices are falling on Tuesday after signals appeared that Iran will take part in negotiations with the US in Islamabad before the two-week ceasefire between the parties ends. A barrel of WTI crude oil for May delivery costs $87.76 on NYMEX in New York. – a decrease of 2.06 percent, while a barrel of Brent crude oil on ICE for June deliveries is valued at USD 94.15. – decrease by 1.39 percent (PAP)
