Former selector Victor Pițurcă (69 years old) spoke about the main problem he will face Gica Hagi on the bank the national team.
More precisely, the management of criticism that he will receive if Ianis Hagi, his son, will have modest performances in Romania's shirt. The offensive midfielder from Alanyaspor became the captain of the national team in the absence of Nicolae Stanciu, during the mandate of Mircea Lucescu.
The appointment of Gică Hagi to the national team is a formality, the FRF president being mandated to negotiate with the former manager of Farului, a purely formal step. Hagi will be officially presented next week, then the drafting of the strategy for the League of Nations will begin. The first matches will be in June, friendlies with Georgia and Wales.
Victor Pițurcă: “This will be the biggest danger for Gică Hagi”
“On Ianis Hagi, the pressure was always high, he became a leader during Mircea Lucescu's time, Mircea Lucescu saw in him a leader, I think he did well.
With Gica it will be more difficult, both for Gica and for Ianis. It's not easy, it won't be simple. Gică will want Ianis to play at the highest level, as well as Ianis Hagi, because his father is on the bench, he wants to give him victories.
There will also be criticism if they don't play well. Woe to me, I don't want to think. This will be the biggest danger for Gică Hagi, this is the danger.
Because we know the behavior and expression of several people who are so-called fans of the national team, I believe that those who are not with the national team and offend after the matches, are not supporters of the national team”, said Victor Pițurcă, according to as.ro.

Recently, Răzvan Burleanu announced that the goal of the future selector is to qualify for EURO 2028, a competition that will take place in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
“Every coach works with this goal, to achieve a sporting performance at a final tournament. So the goal will certainly be to qualify the national team for the next European final tournament.
Our approach as a federation to the Nations League will not be to have a sporting performance objective, but rather to be able to prepare for the qualification campaign.
We look at the League of Nations as a stage before the 2027 qualification for the next European Championship, said Burleanu, after the FRF Executive Committee
