A completely unexpected epilogue in the case of the control carried out by the National Authority for Consumer Protection Constanța at the Sports Hall in the city by the sea.

No spectators in the Constanța Sports Hall

After noticing major structural problems in the edifice erected seven decades ago, with visible cracks in the walls of the building, the head of the institution, Horia Constantinescu, took a tough measure. He did not issue a fine to the Constanța County Sports and Youth Directorate, which manages the sports base owned by the National Sports Agency, but only a warning.

He didn't even close the hall, even if he warned that the lives of the participants in the sports activities were endangered. It still allowed future events to take place, but without an audience.

Thus, both the first league volleyball and handball matches, as well as the other actions in the following period, will take place without spectators. In addition, DJST Constanța representatives will have to inform the organizers of sports activities about the condition of the Sports Hall.

The reason for these measures is the difficulty of evacuating a large number of people in the event of an unforeseen situation related to structural problems of the building. At the same time, the situation will be discussed next week during a meeting that will be organized at the level of the Prefect's Institution.

“We have nothing to do, we have to respect the law, so there will be no spectators at the next competitions. In addition to the matches of the Constanta teams, we have scheduled a national gymnastics championship, another one for table tennis, but also a judo Grand Prix, organized under the auspices of the International Judo Federation,” said the director of DJST Constanța, Marian Țuțuianu.
