There are 10 days left until the elections for the leadership of the Romanian Handball Federation. The former player and manager from Minaur Baia Mare, Vasile Viman, will be running alongside 47 other people for the 15 seats on the Board of Directors.

Vasile Viman was also a manager at the private club for children and juniors, Academia Minaur Baia Mare, holding the EHF sports manager's license.

“Changes can come through a joint effort of all CA members”

– Hello, Mr. Viman! Why are you applying for a place in CA?
– Hello! A friend encouraged me to take this step, considering that my accumulated experience as a sportsman, manager of a public sports club, manager of a private club plus the almost 20 years in the business environment — can bring a real plus within the Board of Directors.

– How can you change from CA some problems in Romanian handball?
– Real changes cannot come from one person. They can only be achieved through a joint effort of the entire CA

– If you were to decide, what would be two measures that you would impose immediately?
– I would have more than two proposals, but the most important would be the obligation of each club to invest at least 10% of the budget for their own sections for children and juniors. But I believe that such decisions must be analyzed and taken at the level of the Council, not imposed unilaterally by a single person.

“The influence of the politician is inevitable, because 90% of the money is public”

– What bothers you the most in Romanian handball?
– The fact that approximately 90% of club funding comes from public money (CJ or CL), which inevitably brings political influence into sports.

– Is there corruption in Romanian handball?
– Influences existed, exist, and most likely will exist again.

“Board members must accept the consequences of their decisions.”

– What do you reproach the current president?
– I wouldn't customize things. I think it's more important to analyze how it works at the team level and work with the current CA

– Who do you support for president and why?
– I haven't made a decision on this yet. I'm waiting to see the leadership team each candidate proposes and what the CA members support.

– Do you think that the members of the CA have any fault for the existing problems?
– I can only say, that when you support or oppose a proposal, you must do it responsibly and accept the consequences.

On April 24, 242 associations with the right to vote in Romanian handball will appoint the new president of FRH, as well as the 15 members of the Board of Directors.
