Special moment in memory of Mircea Lucescu at Rapid

Rapid prepared a special moment before the start of the game with FC Arges from stage #4 of the Superliga play-off. Matei Lucescu, the grandson of Mircea Lucescu, and the great-grandsons of the great coach who died on April 7, will kick off the game.
Matei is the son of Răzvan Lucescu. The game on Giulești will also be played behind closed doors following a decision by the Disciplinary Commission of the FRF following the incidents in the match with Dinamo in the play-off.

In the stands at the Giulești stadium, children under 14 will have access, accompanied by adults, and they will attend the tribute to Mircea Lucescu, the coach who wrote history at Rapid and brought one of the three titles in the history of the Giulești club.
“For tonight's game, we will have three representatives of the Lucescu family who will kick off: Matei – the grandson of Mircea Lucescu, but also the great-grandsons of the latter,” the club representatives said.
At Rapid, Mircea Lucescu brought a title in the 1998-1999 season, the Romanian Cup in the 1997-1998 season and the Romanian Supercup in the 1999-2000 season.

Mircea Lucescu took his first steps in football at Dinamo Bucharest, the team with which he has spent most of his career. As a player, he won 7 championship titles and a Romanian Cup, all with Dinamo.

He won 36 trophies in his career as a technician: 9 times the championship of Ukraine, 8 times the Ukrainian Cup, 7 times the Ukrainian Supercup, 3 times the Romanian Cup, 2 times the Romanian championship, 2 times the Turkish championship, as well as the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
