Cesc Fabregas, the Como coach, praised the team, despite the failure suffered against Interscore 3-4, the formation led by Cristi Chivu.
Inter managed to turn the score around, even though the hosts were leading 2-0. Fabregas drew conclusions after the failure.
Cesc Fabregas, after Como – Inter: “I don't know where we are in the ranking”
“I don't know where we are in the standings, because I haven't checked it since the beginning of the season and I won't do it now. My team showed once again that they are brave, eager to succeed and even in defeat they showed character. It is true that we made mistakes, but we are a young team and we were in front of an opponent who punishes you for every mistake.
I think today I don't want to talk about tactics, because we talked on the field. I like to look at statistics and not many teams manage to send 20 shots on Inter's goal. If you had told me two years ago that we would fight with Inter in this way, I would have assumed that we had organized a friendly match, but we are fighting with them on equal footing,” said Fabregas after the match, according to sportal.bg.
Como's coach also said what, in his opinion, Inter did to turn the score around.
“You can talk about tactics all you want, but in the end it's the mentality that makes the difference. There was a lack of communication between Valle and Perone, they found a gap, it was almost half-time. My message at half-time was that regardless of the result, we have to keep playing the same way. At 2-2 the situation wasn't dangerous, but we didn't do well.
We've created some good counter attacks, but they're incredible at set-pieces, not just against us. As I said, being competitive against Inter today was an important step in our growth process,” added Fàbregas.
Now there is another match between the two teams on April 22, which will be the second leg of the semi-final of the Coppa Italia. The first leg, played a month ago, ended in a 0-0 draw.
“We have another game against Inter in 10 days, we prepare the games in different ways, so I don't want to explain my ideas too much at the moment. I am so proud of my players.
I was here on the first day when I started work two and a half years ago, and I can see where we are now. I see the desire for development and the courage to compete against anyone who stands in our way”, noted Fàbregas.
