Ferran Torres opened the way with a “double”, and in the end Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford brought the score closer to reality on the field.
Strong start: Ferran Torres made the difference
Barcelona started the game perfectly and opened the scoring in the 10th minute, through Ferran Torres, after a set phase.
Flick's side's dominance was evident again in the 25th minute when Lamine Yamal provided the second assist and Ferran made it 2-0. Until the break, the hosts had more important opportunities, but the score remained unchanged.
Espanyol reignited the match, but the end belonged to Barcelona
The visitors got back into the game in the 56th minute when Pol Lozano scored with a spectacular long-range shot to make it 2-1. The end of the game, however, was totally dominated by Barcelona.
In the 87th minute, Lamine Yamal scored for 3-1, after a superb move in which he dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net, following Marc Casado's pass.
Two minutes later, in the 89th minute, Barcelona put on a show: Frenkie de Jong eased past the opposition defense and fed a perfect pass to Marcus Rashford, who finished elegantly to make it 4-1.
Authoritative leader in La Liga
The success takes FC Barcelona to 9 points ahead of Real Madrid with 7 stages remaining, bringing them decisively closer to the title. For Hansi Flick's side, the Champions League return against Atletico Madrid follows, while Espanyol remain winless in 2026 and lose touch with the European places zone.
