Ruse advanced to the “quarters” of Jelena Ostapenko (28 years old, #23 WTA) with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, while Andreeva reached the semifinals after her victory over Sorana Cîrstea (36 years old, #29 WTA), score 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2.
The main favorite of the tournament, Mirra Andreeva did not play in the first round, and in the round of 16 she defeated the American Sloane Stephens (33 years old, #552 WTA), score 6-4, 6-2.
