Liverpool manager Arne Slot reacted after the Cormorants were crushed 4-0 by Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Arne Slot was disappointed by the performance of his students and pointed out that “the only positive aspect was that we didn't collect anymore”. Asked about the disappointing performance of Salah, who missed a penalty, Arne Slot did not blame the Egyptian footballer.
Arne Slot reacted after the FA Cup humiliation: “The first half was balanced”
“The first half was pretty even. Being 0-2 up at half-time didn't help our morale, especially after the season we've had. We came out after the break hoping to get back into the game, but we were immediately punished and conceded two more goals. The only positive aspect was that we didn't concede, but the number of goals remained four.
Very disappointing, not just the elimination but the way it happened and the result. Another big disappointment for us. We lacked the things that we lacked for most of the season. We don't take our chances. It was a balanced match until the penalty. Last time we played them, they scored just before the break. Now it happened again”, Arne Slot said, according to sportal.bg.
Slot was asked about the performance of Mohamed Salah, who missed three chances before also missing a penalty: “I wouldn't focus on one player, I would focus on the team. Missing the penalty maybe symbolizes our performance and a lot of our season. You have to score goals if you want to have a chance to win.”
Liverpool take on PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals next week: “It's not every day you play a quarter-final in the Champions League. We're looking forward to facing a very good team again. That's not our only goal.
In addition, we want to qualify for the Champions League next season as well. We still have a lot to fight for, even if we feel how many disappointments we have had. It's part of being a footballer and being human. You have to stand up when things are not so positive”
