Coronavirus bats found in Siberia
Scientists from Tomsk State University, the Vector Institute of Virology and Dagestan State University discovered coronavirus in bats in the mountains of Altai and Kuzbass. The virus turned out to be similar to Asian and European.
Siberia may become a natural hotspot for the circulation and evolution of coronaviruses from Asia and Europe. The press service explained that bats have become the source of many new infections dangerous to farm animals and humans in this century.
In addition, scientists have found new coronaviruses in bats in Dagestan. These viruses are very similar to the pathogens of the latest coronavirus infection that caused the pandemic.
