New penalties for owners of single-family houses. The government announces regulations

Single-family houses turned into overcrowded accommodation
As local government representatives pointed out, current regulations allow for the creation of accommodation for even several dozen people in single-family homes.
— There are towns and communes in Poland where housing estates have been built specifically for people coming from outside the country to vegetate in these rooms, and these are usually single-family houses or semi-detached buildings in which several dozen people live in deplorable conditions, with no respect for sanitary and fire safety regulations – Marek Wójcik, secretary of the local government.
— This problem must be dealt with quickly before a tragedy occurs – he added.

New limits and reporting obligation
Deputy Minister of Development Tomasz Lewandowski announced that the draft changes are already ready. The key proposition is to limit – only 30 percent area of a single-family house can be used for temporary residence purposes.
Exceeding this limit will require a formal change in the use of the building.
– We clearly indicate that If someone wants to run such an employee hotel, they must apply for a change in the use of the building – Lewandowski emphasized.
Even multiple penalties
The ministry also plans to introduce financial sanctions. For running such a business without the required consent, the owner will pay up to PLN 10,000. zloty.
– This penalty can also be imposed in subsequent stages if the building owner does not comply – noted the deputy minister.
