Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos: “We will be in a different situation when Neptun Deep starts”

Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna declared, on Digi24, that Romania will be in a different energy situation when the Neptun Deep project starts and important quantities of gas will be exported.

Regarding the changes that should occur in Romania in the energy policy, after this global oil crisis, Tanczos Barna stated, on Tuesday evening, at Digi 24, that Romania will be in a different situation after the Neptun Deep project is started.

“It's hard to change now, because the electricity is being produced. And we have this discussion with the miners on the street, where the electricity produced in these coal plants is so expensive that it unbalances the whole energy mix and local prices. We will be in a different situation when Neptun Deep starts, when the big plants that are under construction now start up and billions of euros of investment are made there. We will be in a completely different situation when we manage to export large amounts of gas”, said Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna, quoted by News.ro.

He stated that Romania will become the largest gas producer in Europe, and from that moment things will be different.

“A transition to electricity and electric cars is an expensive transition and it takes time. Europe tried to do it very quickly, until 2035, with the wrong methods and in a hurry, without taking into account the affordability or the level at which the industry is prepared. Europe did not take into account China and the import of unprecedented and electric and classic cars with internal combustion engines from China,” said Tanczos Barna.

According to him, the industry in Germany and France is losing speed, and Romania is also affected, because “we are suppliers of parts and component subassemblies for the automotive industry”.

“So things cannot be rushed, no one prepared. Neither China, nor India, nor Pakistan, nor Japan, nor America were prepared for crises like this. Everyone is affected,” Tanczos Barna added.
