The famous conductor of the Violin Orchestra, Nicolae Botgros, renounces politics: “More freedom”

The famous conductor of the Orchestra Lăutarii, Nicolae Botgros, gave up his mandate as a member of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), emphasizing that he is returning to music, even though he previously stated that he did not intend to leave the Parliament in Chisinau.

“I am in my old age, I am 73 years old, and at my age I need health, a refuge and more freedom. For me, freedom is music. I am born for the Violin Orchestra and for music, and I will continue to do what I have done for almost 49 years, since I have been the conductor of the Violin Orchestra”, said Nicolae Botgros.

He changed the sheet

At the beginning of February, however, the famous conductor stated that he will remain in Parliament until they want him “step forward”, stressing that he has no intention of resigning from his elected office. Asked what happened in the meantime and why he changed his decision, Nicolae Botgros assured that he did not “absolutely nothing has changed”.

“I am the same man, the same person, received very well both by the PAS faction and by the other colleagues from other factions, because I am a friend to everyone, to the whole society. In these moments, I can only wish good health to the Parliament and to those who will make laws. It was a joke, a saying, as they say among us, in Moldova, that you will take me from here with my feet first. Of course, there is someone to take me with my feet first, because there is the Violin Orchestra, which we have led for 49 years, and they will be worthy of this. But until then we are talking about more beautiful and valuable things that we have to do next.” he concluded.

Deputy for only a few months

Nicolae Botgros became a parliamentarian for the first time last fall after the elections in the Republic of Moldova, being in 11th place on the list of the Action and Solidarity Party.

Proposal from Maia Sandu

He mentioned that the proposal regarding participation in the parliamentary elections came from Maia Sandu, the current president of the Republic of Moldova and the founder of the Action and Solidarity Party, stressing that she accepted it in order to contribute to the European path of her country.

“I think that the way I am proceeding today is a valuable step, because on September 28th let's choose the right option, let's get to where we need to be. We, the musicians who have been abroad since the 80s, have seen how the world lives everywhere, how people live in Europe, but also in other countries. We want to bring Europe home, to live beautifully, to have work, to be able to do wonderful things. I urge you all, step by step, shoulder to shoulder, let's do beautiful things”, stated Nicolae Botgros on June 16, the day on which the PAS leader, Igor Grosu, announced that the famous conductor, along with other public figures, will run for the parliamentary election on September 28.
