Why did Donald Trump dismiss an important adviser? It's not about a loud scandal

For Trump, the Signalgate scandal became a convenient excuse to finally slow down Waltz. The president was to be dissatisfied that his adviser does not eagerly justify his policy in the media (which is very important for Trump) that he was not controlling the work of the National Security Council and that he chooses “too establishment” people to cooperate. And besides, Trump does not like people who lose: in this case the fight for influence in his administration.
Because regardless of Signalgate, Waltz had very little to say on key issues of American foreign policy.

In negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, the first violin is played by Steve Witkoff (formally Advisor for the Middle East) and secretary of state Marco Rubio. Keith Kellogg is officially the Messenger of Trump for the end of the war. In this group, Waltz did not win a strong position and completely gave the field.
He was also marginalized in politics towards China. Trump's key adviser on customs duties became the commercial advisor Peter Navarro, the secretary of the treasury Scott Bessent and Marco Rubio.
It was Rubio – next to the president and JD Vance – he became the face of the entire foreign policy of the administration. He who is the most loud and loyal to justify Trump's policy in the case of Russia, China, the Middle East, the Panama Canal and the entire Latin American region or Greenland. He supervises the cuts in the state department and liquidation of USAID, which Trump demanded. And it was him – not Waltz – in recent months he fought the most for his position alongside Trump. And at first it seemed that Waltz was rather a nominem from the loyal key, and Rubio is a “foreign body” from outside the nearest circle of the president.
The total loss of Waltz's influence is also evidenced by the fact that Trump nominated him as the UN Ambassador at the UN. In theory, this is an important function, but in the world of Trump – which perceives the UN as another unnecessary organization that only demands money from the US – it is degradation.
