The head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, who is in Gdańsk on Friday, took part, among others, at the opening of the Education and Career Day during the PowerConnect 2026 fair and conference held at AMBEREXPO. Domański emphasized that the fair related to energy and the energy transformation that our country is undergoing is one of the key economic events.

– We talk about staff, we talk about people, that is, we talk about our future. We know that there is a future in energy; we know that the hundreds of billions of zlotys that we invest year after year in Poland's energy transformation are intended to provide cheaper electricity for Polish families and cheaper electricity for Polish companies, said Domański.

He added that investing young people's time in education related to the development of the Polish energy industry is a good direction.

– From the government's side, we are obviously trying to make this path easier. We have decided to strengthen the student housing base in Poland, including: in Gdańsk and Gdynia. Thanks to the program launched by the Ministry of Development, hundreds of dormitories will be built and modernized, noted the minister.

The Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, pointed out that Pomerania is becoming an important region on the map of Poland.

– First of all, because the Baltic Sea has become the internal sea of NATO countries. It has an extremely important defense mission, and energy is precisely related to this. (…) during today's fair, the third day is devoted to young people who want to educate themselves; we also devote time to teachers and vocational instructors. This is a great opportunity for you to see how the energy industry will develop in Poland and what are the chances of developing your own career, said Struk.

During the Education and Career Days, as part of the PowerConnect 2026 fair and conference, an agreement was signed for the development of space technologies and monitoring of the Baltic Sea. The signatories of the document are: Pomeranian Special Economic Zone (PSSE), Polish Space Agency (POLSA), Gdańsk University of Technology, Pomeranian Development Agency and Gdańsk Economic Development Agency (InvestGDA).

Atom is coming back, ETS is hurting, and the industry is losing its breath. Niewiadomski: Europe is a bit of a loser

A trillion for energy, a revision of the ETS and growing concern about whether Europe is paying too high a price for the transformation. Today, the game is not only about the climate, but also about industry, investments and economic survival in a world of increasingly expensive energy and increasingly tough geopolitics. Aleksander Ogrodnik talks about this in the latest episode of the “GPW – Economic Point of View” podcast with Michał Niewiadomski, an analyst at Bankier.pl and an expert on the energy market.

The Minister of Finance and Economy emphasized that the agreement is crucial for building resilience and security in this part of Europe.

– Security is Poland's priority. It is not by accident that we are modernizing our army, and it is not by accident that we are launching measures, including European ones, to increase security. We know perfectly well that new threats are emerging. Spoofing, jamming – all these are things that directly threaten our systems. We must monitor them and respond to them effectively, said Domański.

The president of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, Mirosław Kamiński, expressed hope that cooperation between the signatories of the agreement will translate into further projects. – We know that in the near future in Pomerania, about half a billion of the trillion mentioned by the Prime Minister will be invested in the neighborhood or on the Baltic Sea. So the issue of security of critical infrastructure is very important, he said.

He pointed out that POLSA is a center that has access to space data. – I hope that based on this data, but also on cooperation with our enterprises, we will be able to create a new branch that has a chance to develop here in Pomerania – added Kamiński.

The agreement signed on Friday includes, among others: development of the Baltic Sea Monitoring Center in Gdańsk, support for startups and innovative enterprises, development of dual-use technologies and technology transfer, as well as integration of satellite data and development of modern analytical infrastructure.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Wednesday that Poland will invest PLN 1 trillion in the energy sector over the next decade. Of this amount, over PLN 220 billion is to be allocated to renewable sources and energy storage, PLN 234 billion – to distribution, and PLN 160 billion to nuclear energy – he added.

– When I say that we are today the largest energy construction site, I am talking about a specific and very round trillion zlotys that Poland will invest over the next decade in energy, in infrastructure, in transmission lines, in power plants – said the head of government during the opening of the PowerConnect Energy Summit conference in Gdańsk.
