Argentina has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization

The Argentine government on Tuesday formalized its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), a decision announced a year ago, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pablo Quirno, reports AFP.

This decision follows the one taken by US President Donald Trump, a key ally of Argentine President Javier Mile. Following the model of the White House at the time of its withdrawal from the organization, the Argentine government criticized the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the WHO, notes News.ro.

Argentina sent last year that “WHO recommendations are ineffective because they are not based on science, but on political interests.”

“Argentina will continue to promote international cooperation in the field of health through bilateral agreements and regional forums, fully preserving its sovereignty and the ability to make decisions on health policies,” Pablo Quirno said on Tuesday on X.

The administration of Mila announced this decision a year ago and completed the process within the terms stipulated by international treaties, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
