ICC Ukraine: Selective increase in tariffs of Ukrzaliznytsia creates risks for the economy and exports
The Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) appealed to the Minister of Community Development, Oleksiy Kuleba, with a call to cancel the selective increasing coefficients of Ukrzaliznytsia for cargo transportation to certain seaports.
🔹 Such an initiative:
– contradicts the principles of tariff unity and current legislation,
– does not have an infrastructural or economic rationale,
– creates risks for exports, foreign exchange earnings and balance of payments.
📉 Such regulation, indicated in the statement, creates a precedent of manual management of tariffs, which is contrary to the principles of a competitive market.
The key risks identified by the ICC are:
– decrease in production and export volumes
– loss of foreign exchange earnings and jobs
– deterioration of the investment climate
– a fall in tax revenues
🔍 The initiative is also inconsistent with Ukraine's European integration course and market economy principles.
