The constant increase in e/energy prices will lead to the destruction of the basis of Ukraine's economy, – mass media.
Ukraine has one of the highest electricity tariffs in Europe, which is already forcing ArcelorMittal, which has invested $5-7 billion, to consider exiting the country. This can cause a collapse of metallurgy and a “domino effect” in related industries and SMEs.
Oleksandr Kalenkov, president of Ukrmetalurgprom, stated this at a meeting of the Energy Committee of the Federation of Employers. According to him, the cost of electricity in Ukraine is several times higher than in France, despite similar volumes of nuclear generation. This puts Ukrainian metallurgy beyond the limits of competitiveness.
A further increase in tariffs is a direct blow to industry and small businesses, which are already beyond the limit of survival.
