The notebook market, especially budget ones, will struggle with two negative trends this year: growing frustration among Windows users and, above all, problems with memory availability.
Various analyzes show that after the end of Windows 10 support, many people and institutions Instead of buying equipment with Windows 11, he preferred to buy a MacBook. We can certainly expect that the new cheap MacBook would deepen this trend. Especially since the most budget Windows notebooks have a lot of often irritating additional applications (so-called bloatware), because their manufacturers use contracts with software suppliers as a form of “compensation” for the extremely low margins that characterize the cheapest computer equipment.
We will most likely see refreshed MacBook Airs, but also a new, completely new budget MacBook.

We have written many times about memory availability problems and their impact on the world of consumer electronics. In short, some analytical companies even assume that within two to three years the most budget laptops (i.e. those costing PLN 2,000-2,500) will simply disappear from the market, because it will not be possible to produce them at the current prices, and the notebooks that will remain on the market will be much more expensive than we are used to.
Apple is in a very strong position in these circumstances because, due to its scale and contacts with suppliers, it has secured memory supplies for the coming quarters and it is expected that negotiated prices that many laptop manufacturers smaller than Apple could not even dream of.
If Apple wants to take advantage of this situation and aggressively price its budget MacBook, it could forever change the balance of power in the portable computing market. Moreover, the iPhone 17e may play a similar role, because it also goes on sale at a time when rising prices and a crisis in the lower- and mid-range smartphone market are widely expected.
