One Kabul resident told AFP it was eight explosions. According to French agency journalists in the city, the sounds of gunshots were also heard.

The Afghan army announced on Thursday that it had carried out “large-scale offensive operations” and had seized several Pakistani army posts. It was supposed to be retaliation for attacks carried out by Pakistan a few days earlier.
