During the conversation, Zelensky said that for the first two years after the start of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, he went down to the bunker at night, but for the last two years he has not done this.
“Do you still go there when there’s an air raid alert?” – the journalist asked the president.
“No, I don’t go now. The security shouts at me: “What kind of example is this for people?!” I agree. I go at night. I agree that this is wrong,” he noted.
The Ukrainian president also named the reason that prevents him from going down to the shelter during the day.
“This is such a long road for me,” he sighed heavily.
Context
In the same interview, Zelensky said that during night attacks by Russian invaders on Ukrainian cities, he corresponds with the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoly Krivonozhko.
“He texts me all night, and I text him. I tell him all the time – he is such a gray-haired man that everyone will think that because of my communication with him. We write to each other – air defense, strikes, where. We talk loudly, quietly – in different ways. We have been talking for so long, and it depends on whether the strikes are intense or not. If they are intense in any region, we communicate. That is, the night with pauses for sleep,” – noted the President of Ukraine.
