Lindsey Vonn (41 years old) underwent a new surgery today, as a result of the serious injury suffered on Sundayon February 8, in the downhill event of the Winter Olympics. The American skier spent “a little over 6 hours” in surgery and will have to wait until she is discharged.
A violent fall brought the Olympics to an abrupt and painful end for the legendary Lindsey Vonn. She suffered a compound fracture of the tibia in her left leg.
The day after the unfortunate episode, Vonn announced that the injury is so serious that “it will require several surgeries to be properly fixed“.

She suffered at least four operations in Italy, and today he had another surgerythis time in the United States of America.
“I went through the surgery fine…it took just over 6 hours. As you can see, it took a lot of washers and screws to put it all back togetherbut Dr. Hackett did an incredible job. I also thank Dr. Viola for his assistance during the intervention!!
Due to the severity of the trauma, i struggled a bit post op and haven't been able to be discharged from the hospital yet… i'm close to that time. Small steps.

From the images released by Vonn, it appears that a major reconstruction was needed to stabilize her leg. The doctors used a long metal plate and somewhere up to 20 screws arranged at different angles.
