Fines of hundreds of thousands of lei for places not cleared of snow in the Capital.

The Local Police of the Municipality of Bucharest gave the sanitation operators 41 fines in the total amount of 205,000 lei, on Friday, for streets, sidewalks, STB stations and pedestrian crossings not cleared of snow, according to the announcement made by the Capital City Hall.

The municipality says that, although two days have passed since the snowfall in Bucharest, “the first traffic lane is still blocked, on some roads with black traffic”.

Fines issued on Friday:

  • Sector 1 – 8 sanctions, of 40,000 lei;
  • Sector 2 – 7 sanctions, of 35,000 lei;
  • Sector 3 – 4 sanctions, of 20,000 lei;
  • Sector 4 – 4 sanctions of 20,000 lei;
  • Sector 5 – 7 sanctions, of 35,000 lei;
  • Sector 6 – 11 sanctions, of 55,000 lei.

With the fines of 425,000 lei that were given on Thursday, the total amount reached 630,000 lei, according to the mayor's office.

“And we continue the checks! All the more so since this evening a new episode of snow is announced by the meteorologists”, the institution also declared in the statement of Friday evening.

Ciprian Ciucu's appeal to the sector mayors

The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, asks “the sector mayors to mobilize and coordinate the snow removal action with responsibility, so that the means of public transport are no longer blocked in the snow, and pedestrians, but also drivers can move in winter conditions, but civilized”.

“Also, to ensure, together with Apa Nova, that all street drains are not covered by mud and take the water from melting snow”, the municipality's press release also states.
