Zelensky noted that Ukraine has few Flamingo missiles.
“We used them several days ago in the territory where the Oreshnik system is located. We will look at the result. We think that we got the result,” the president said.
Zelensky noted the importance of increasing the production of Flamingo.
“It is extremely important for us to increase their number. We had technical problems and, between us, one of our large production lines was destroyed by Russian missiles. But I can already talk about this. Because it has already been relocated and production has been restored,” Zelensky informed.
Context
The Ukrainian-made cruise missile FP-5 “Flamingo” has passed successful tests and the Ukrainian defense forces are already using it against the aggressor country of the Russian Federation. The missiles fly at an altitude of only 50 m above the ground, which makes them difficult to detect, and the flight range of a missile carrying a charge of 1,150 kg of explosives is more than 3 thousand km.
Zelensky called the Flamingo the most successful Ukrainian-made weapon. He announced that mass production will begin in January – February 2026.
On February 5, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported series of attacks on the Kapustin Yar training groundfrom where the Russian Federation launches its Oreshnik rocket. The Ukrainian military noted that they used, in particular, Flamingo missiles.
According to the Fire Point company, which produces Flamingo missiles, there were two serious arrivals in 2025, Fire Point technical director Irina Terekh said in an interview with the BBC published on December 9. According to her, the arrivals “were very unpleasant financially” – the company lost two large workshops.
