Mihai Iuțalîm (19 years old), the former goalkeeper of Vulturii Fărcășești, was summoned by the FRF to hearings on December 16, as a defendant, for his team's match on the field of Jiul Petrosani from May 3, 2025, suspected match-fixing.

Context:

  • On May 3, 2025, in stage #7 of the League 3 play-out at the “Petre Libardi” stadium in Petroșani, Jiul received a visit from Fărcășești. The visitors led 2-0 at the break, in the second half Jiul came back and won the game 3-2, a scenario known to punters as “2 half / 1 final”, a scenario that usually brings with it huge odds. The match had no stakes: the hosts had secured the 1st place in the ranking, the guests the 2nd place.

  • The match came to the attention of the FRF integrity department due to the fact that there was a lot of betting online on the 2 halftime / 1 final betting scenario with a minimum of 5 goals scored in the match.

  • How did the president from Fărcășești defend himself in the press? “The FRF investigation started from a complaint made by a former player, Roncea Ion Constantin, whom we kicked out because he came to training drunk. He went to the FRF and made statements against us, as if we had fixed matches”

Mihai Iuțîm scored a suspicious goal in the 50th minute of the game Jiul Petroșani – Vulturii Fărcășești 3-2

In the 50th minute of the game, Mihai Iuțalîm put the ball back into play with a careless and unusual pass, about 30 meters to Răzvan Florentin Vulpe. He took over wide, was dispossessed, and the hosts combined and scored through Ramon Gașpar.

Mihai Iuțalîm is NO longer the goalkeeper of the team from Farăcășești: he resigned two weeks ago

On January 29, 2026, Mihai Iuțalîm terminated the contract with Vulturii Farăcășești.

“Thank you, Mihai! Our club has reached an agreement regarding the termination of the contract, by mutual agreement, with the goalkeeper Iutalîm Mihai.

In this way, we wish the one who defended our team's gate with devotion and pride only success in future challenges! One of us!”, the people from Fărcășești sent on social networks.

Răzvan Burleanu, the president of the FRF, spoke a few days ago about the subject of fixed matches

In recent months, more and more problems related to betting in Romanian football have come to light. In this context, Răzvan Burleanu declared:

“I told you I was honest. My answer is yes, of course, you bet. We clearly have problems with fixing certain matches and implicitly with betting on our own matches.

I am a sincere, honest man. If I want to hide something from you, I'd rather tell you that I don't know. That is one of our big challenges. Why?

Because our message as a Federation is very clear in this direction: we have declared a war to defend the integrity of the game of football.

Anyone with other ideas would do well to step away from football as soon as possible. At the moment, we have a lot of hearings in this area. I can confirm: there are players, coaches, referees, not from the first league, who are being investigated today
