Türkiye wants to mediate between the US and Iran

An Arab diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the AP that there were discussions about Turkey hosting a high-level meeting aimed at bringing Arab and Muslim countries together with the United States and Iran.

Donald Trump's threats against Iran

Last Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian in a telephone conversation that Ankara could play the role of a mediator in the Iran-US conflict. On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi visited Turkey.

US President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened Iran with intervention in January. In recent days, however, he has declared that he is willing to enter into talks with Tehran regarding the Iranian nuclear program.

The US has strengthened its military presence in the Middle East in recent weeks. In response to Washington's steps, Iran announced that in the event of aggression, it would respond by attacking American military installations in the region.
