In the Republic of Khakassia, the owner of a holiday home was detained as part of a criminal investigation into the death of three men as a result of a fire. This was reported to the Investigative Committee.
According to law enforcement officers, the man built a frame house on the territory of the recreation center and rented it out since 2020, without having permits for this. On the night of January 31 to February 1, 2026, a fire occurred in the house, which claimed the lives of three men aged 21, 22 and 23 years. Based on this fact, a criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence).
Law enforcement officers found out that the house was heated by a water heating boiler, and a homemade stove was used in the bathhouse. The fire was located in the bathhouse, where the stove was installed.
Currently, investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the owner of the holiday home is being decided.
