Poland has emerged as a leading buyer of Chinese drone parts after Beijing banned their export to Ukraine and Russia. Although part of this import goes to our eastern neighbor, Polish uniformed services also willingly use Chinese components – reports “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.

“DGP” reminds that In September 2024, China introduced a ban on the export of unmanned aerial vehicles and key components to Ukraine and Russia. The deliveries have not been stopped, but only changed their route – they go to the Dnieper through Poland. The increase in imports is also the result of increased interest in drones on the Polish side. According to the daily, last year the army bought a large part of the FPV drones that were available on the market.
– We probably bought out the market because the financial possibilities were still at PLN 2,000. sets, but there were no applications – admitted the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, quoted in the article, at a meeting of the Parliamentary National Defense Committee.
This is not the end of shopping, Tomczyk, quoted in the material, said over the next three years, Poland is to spend a total of approximately PLN 15 billion on drones and anti-drone systems. The army plans, among other things, purchase of 10 thousand kamikaze Warmate drones and 1.7 thousand FlyEye reconnaissance arts. For comparison, Ukraine's production capacity is expected to amount to 8 million drones in 2026.
Chinese designs compete on price, they are four times cheaper than American or European products. However, the article shows that Poland can become independent from China. However, the quoted industry representative sets a condition – it requires more regular orders from the state. (PAP)
