Lightning struck during a pro-Bolsonaro demonstration: 89 people were injured

A lightning struck near a rally of supporters of the former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, on Sunday, January 25, in Brazil, injuring 89 people, according to the fire department, AFP notes.
In a torrential rain, thousands of demonstrators gathered around the Cruzeiro Square in the capital Brasília, to support Bolsonaro, sentenced to 27 years in prison for attempted coup and detained in a penitentiary center on the outskirts of the city, according to Agerpres, which quotes the foreign press agency.

The crowd was suddenly startled by a flash of light and a deafening noise, according to a video broadcast by local media and social networks.
Several injured require 'major medical care'
No less than 89 people received care on the spot following the incident, the firemen indicated in a statement sent to AFP.
Of these, 47 were transported to the hospital, 11 requiring treatment “major medical care”.
Sunday's demonstration was organized by influencer and MP Nikolas Ferreira to advertise “amnesty” for Bolsonaro.
Jair Bolsonaro, aged 70, is incarcerated in the Papuda prison complex in Brasilia.
The former president of Brazil suffers from serious health problems, mainly due to a knife attack suffered in 2018, in the middle of the election campaign, which required several complicated surgeries.
