A 17-year-old teenager was detained by the Capital's police, after robbing a woman in District 4. The surveillance cameras caught the young man running away with the victim's bag, which contained goods worth 3,000 lei. He was caught just one day after the attack, according to the Romanian Police.

The attack took place on the evening of January 23, 2026, around 9:45 p.m. While the victim was walking on Unirii Boulevard, the suspect acted suddenly. He tore the bag from his shoulder and ran away. The bag would have contained several personal belongings, the damage being estimated at approximately 3,000 lei, according to the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest.

The woman immediately notified the 14th Police Department and sent the first reports of the attacker, and police officers from the 14th Police Department identified and located the suspect, a 17-year-old young man, on a street in the 4th District. All the stolen goods were found on him.

The robbery victim later recounted in a Facebook message that police acted promptly and found the suspect less than 24 hours after he reported the robbery. She wanted to publicly thank the 14th Police Department for the “empathy” they showed, noting that her goods were fully recovered.

The police ordered the detention of the young man for 24 hours based on the evidence provided. He will be presented to the prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the 4th District Court with a legal proposal

In this case, the research continues under the aspect of committing the crime of qualified robbery, under the supervision of the same prosecutor's office, in order to establish the entire criminal activity of the teenager.
