29-year-old man, remanded in custody after causing a fire in a church in Brașov and beating the woman selling candles

A 29-year-old man was remanded in custody for 30 days, after causing a fire inside a church in Brașov and assaulting a woman who was selling candles.

Police officers from the Criminal Investigations Bureau were alerted to the outbreak of a fire in a place of worship.
Arriving at the scene, the law enforcement officers found that the area intended for the sale of candles and religious objects had been intentionally set on fire, causing material destruction.
Following the checks, it was established that a 65-year-old woman, inside the church, was physically assaulted. In a short time, following the research activities carried out by the police and forensic specialists, the alleged perpetrator, a 29-year-old man from Brașov, was identified, according to Agerpres.
He was taken to police headquarters and detained for 24 hours, being investigated for destruction by arson and beating or other violence.
Later, at the proposal of the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Brașov Court, the court ordered the preventive arrest of the young man for a period of 30 days, according to the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) Brașov.
