Adam Nowak on the future of Polish agriculture. The agreement with Mercosur under the microscope
— Poland is a food exporter with an impressive trade surplus of nearly EUR 20 billion in the agri-food sector – Nowak pointed out. The deputy minister expressed his belief that it may be necessary to approach negotiations again and develop new forms of compensation for industries that may suffer as a result of the implementation of the EU-Mercosur agreement. He added that Poland hopes that the final decisions will be in line with its expectations.

Cage eggs and promotion of Polish food
During the conference, the issue of the policy of retail chains that withdrew cage eggs from sale, which constituted more than half of the national production, was also discussed. The deputy minister drew attention to the need for greater promotion of Polish products to compete more effectively on the European market.
— The free movement of goods in the EU is a fact that we cannot stop, but we want to support producers through funds for the promotion of agri-food products, explained Nowak. He pointed out that such activities will help reach consumers and show the quality of Polish food both at home and abroad.
Family farms are the foundation of Polish agriculture
In response to farmers' concerns about the decreasing profitability of production, especially on smaller farms, Nowak assured that the Ministry of Agriculture focuses on supporting family farms.
— We want to direct financial resources to those who actually build food security, also at the local level – said the deputy minister. He emphasized that small processing and local supplies are key elements of agricultural policy, especially in the context of international trade agreements.
The Ministry plans to use available funds to strengthen the competitiveness of Polish agriculture and ensure the stability of family farms, which are the foundation of the national agricultural system.
