One of the suspects in stealing a Lexus belonging to Prime Minister Donald Tusk's family will face further charges. The investigation into the car theft has been extended until June 30 this year. – Mariusz Duszyński, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk, told PAP on Thursday.

So far, two people have been charged in the case: 40-year-old Łukasz W. and 43-year-old Stefan N., who are suspected of stealing a Lexus car.

Łukasz W. is also to be held accountable for using counterfeit license plates. Both are under temporary arrest. Łukasz W. has been in custody since September 12 last year, and Stefan N. since October 25 last year.

– Two other preparatory proceedings concerning similar car thefts were added to the investigation. In the course of the proceedings, materials from the above proceedings are analyzed, the prosecutor's office is waiting for the impact of opinions, among others: in the field of biological and fingerprint tests as well as forensic analysis, monitoring inspections are continued, and other activities covered by the secret of the investigation are being performed – added prosecutor Duszyński.

According to the prosecutor's office, suspect Łukasz W. is planned to be charged with committing further property crimes in the near future.

In addition, investigators received copies of convictions issued against Łukasz W. for property crimes, under which he was sentenced to imprisonment under electronic supervision.

According to the prosecutor's office, Łukasz W. committed the theft after breaking into a Lexus while he was a repeat offender.

Currently, investigators are determining the role of Stefan N. in other car thefts. – Moreover, the files of other preparatory proceedings concerning similar acts and with a similar modus operandi are constantly being analyzed in terms of subject-subject connections with this investigation – said prosecutor Duszyński.

The theft of a car belonging to the head of government's family took place in September last year. in Sopot, near the prime minister's house. A few hours after reporting the theft, officers found the car in one of the parking lots in Gdańsk.

In connection with the theft, the police detained a resident of Sopot – Łukasz W. The man was charged with theft and using counterfeit license plates by placing them on a stolen car. After the arrest, Łukasz W. was arrested. In October, the second suspect in this case was arrested. The man will be charged with complicity in the theft of the prime minister's car. (PAP)
