Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention spoke about the palm method, which helps control nutrition and not overeat.

Thus, protein foods, which include meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and legumes, are measured with the palms of your hands. At the same time, a piece of meat or fish should not only be no larger than the palm of your hand, but also no thicker. A portion of protein food for a woman is a palm, for a man – two palms at each meal.

Measure with your thumb servings of food saturated with fat. The upper phalanx of the thumb is the amount of oil that both a man and a woman can consume per day, or no more than a teaspoon.

Foods with carbohydrates – these are cereals and pasta – are considered handfuls. The portion for a woman is one handful, for a man – two handfuls per day. But vegetables are measured with fists. So ohbem servings of vegetables for women amounts to one fistfor a man – two fists in eachem of food.

“The daily norm for any product is 4–6 servings for women, 6–8 for men. Using the palm method, you will always understand your portion size.” – noted the center's specialists.
