The ambassador of Ukraine to the US, Olga Stefanişina, announced on Friday that the Ukrainian negotiators will meet with the American ones on Saturday in Miami, for new talks on a peace plan and the end of the war started by Russia, reports AFP.

“Negotiations will take place tomorrow (Saturday) in Miami, Florida, with the participation of the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, the chief of staff of the president, Kirilo Budanov, and the head of the parliamentary group “Servant of the People”, David Arakhamia,” wrote Olga Stefanișina on the X network, without specifying who will represent the United States.

So far, the White House emissaries for these talks have been Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Russia currently controls about a fifth of Ukraine, including the Crimean Peninsula, which it annexed in 2014. Moscow wants Kiev to withdraw its troops from parts of the Donetsk region that Russia does not control but claims as its own. Ukraine – which has rejected the idea of ceding territory to Moscow – wants the fighting along the current front to stop. The US has proposed a free economic zone if Ukraine withdraws its troops.
