MegaFon named the top foreign destinations for New Year's holidays among Krasnoyarsk residents and residents of the region

46% more residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory spent the past New Year holidays abroad than a year earlier, MegaFon analysts said based on anonymized subscriber data.

The Asian destination, led by Vietnam, grew most actively; Kuwait and Jordan also made it into the top 3 in terms of the dynamics of tourist flow growth. Krasnoyarsk residents traveled to the African continent 74% more often. The number of trips to the CIS countries (48%), the Middle East (42%) and Australia (25%) increased.

The leading countries in terms of the number of guests from the Krasnoyarsk Territory were Thailand, China and Vietnam. Moreover, last year the first two places were occupied by the same countries, as well as Kazakhstan, popular among our compatriots, which this year lost its place in the top 3 to Vietnam.

Vietnam has seen a record growth in tourist flows (+1093%) – in recent years, the country has shown a steady increase in interest from Krasnoyarsk residents. Next come the Middle Eastern Kuwait (+700%) and Jordan (+500%), where mandatory visas for Russians were recently abolished.

At the same time, Sri Lanka demonstrated a sharp decline in popularity – the number of tourists from the region who chose to holiday in this country for the New Year holidays decreased by 83%. This may be due to the consequences of the devastating cyclone that hit the island at the end of November and caused large-scale floods.

Asia grew by almost two-thirds and, as expected, became the most popular destination. Here, the maximum number of tourists came to Thailand (share in Asia 43%), China (23%) and Vietnam (20%). Among European countries, Germany (21%), France (11%) and Italy (9%) received the most tourists.

In Africa, the traditional leader is Egypt (more than 88%), followed by South Africa (which is also the first in growth: +133%), as well as Mauritius, which ranks third for the second year in a row. In the Middle East, vacationers continue to appreciate the UAE and Turkey, and Saudi Arabia is also popular.

Meanwhile, guests from Kazakhstan, Belarus and China more often came to Russia from abroad during these New Year holidays, while last year Kazakhstan was only in fifth place. The top 10 also included the USA, UAE, Uzbekistan and a number of European countries: Austria, France, the Netherlands and Denmark.
