The company, known for producing insulation materials, was previously criticized for continuing to operate in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
Rockwool's decision to remain on the Russian market was widely commented on by the public and experts, who drew attention to the company's image losses. At Business Insider Polska, we have repeatedly published “lists of shame” with companies that stayed in Russia after the Kremlin's attack on Ukraine.
As the “Berlingske” daily emphasized, these actions did not protect the Danish company from nationalization.

Now Rockwool has announced that as a result of the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it has lost control over four of its factories in Russia.
The company announced that it intended to pursue its rights under the Danish-Russian investment agreement, but at the same time stressed that it currently did not see much chance of reversing the decision to take over the assets by the Russian state. Rockwool also intends to seek support from the Danish government and European Union institutions.
The value of Rockwool's Russian assets at the end of 2025 was EUR 469 million, and the local branch generated profits.
Information about the loss of control over Russian plants caused Rockwool's shares to fall on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange by 8-12%.
