The longest-living person with premature aging syndrome has died
Sammy Basso was 28 years old. He was born in Schio, Italy, and suffered from progeria from the age of two. This disease causes rapid aging. Typically, such people live for about 13 years, but Sammy managed to live to 28. There are only 130 cases of this disease recorded in the world.
Sammy graduated from the University of Padova with a degree in Natural Sciences with a specialization in Molecular Biology. In 2019, he received the knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Republic in Italy.
