Rapid gave his consent for the transfer of Rareș Pop to Petrolul. Tonight, the last details of the contract are being worked out, but everything is up to the player, if he will accept the wage conditions of the “yellow wolves”.
In short, basically: the clubs are understood, all that's left is the player's agreement. Multiple options are being studied.
Rares Pop, a step away from Petrolul
Initially, the option was discussed for Rareș Pop to be in the package of three players of Costel Gâlcă's formation to go to “Ilie Oană”, along with Claudiu Micovschi or Cristi Ignat, and instead Robert Sălceanu to go to Giulesti.
However, there is also a strong possibility that this business will be a stand-alone one: Pop to go to Petrolul, Rapid to keep percentages of a possible future transfer.
According to GSP information, there is a good chance that the move will materialize by tomorrow.
Raised by UTA Arad, Rareș Pop made his debut in professional football also for the “textile players”. In February 2024, Rapid signed the player for 700,000 euros, for a period of four and a half years, immediately being loaned to UTA for the rest of the season. He made his debut for Giulești on August 5, 2024, scoring his first goal in white and cherry two weeks later. The first “doppietta”, a month later, with the then newly promoted Unirea Slobozia.
Since then, however, he has scored only once, losing his status as holder. This season, he managed a goal and an assist, but got very few minutes: 3 minutes in the last 4 games, with Csikszereda, FC Botoşani, Oțelul Galați and FCSB.
According to the specialist portal transfermarkt, he is quoted at half a million euros, down by 250,000 euros compared to last season.
