The Ministry of the Environment will reduce the number of directors in Romsilva by 86%. Mircea Fechet also wants a bigger profit of the company

The Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Mircea Fechet, announced on Thursday that he has rejected the budget proposal that the National Forest Directorate (RNP) Romsilva communicated to the ministry, and on the reorganization scheme the number of directors will decrease from 121 to about 17, informs Agerpres.
“I rejected the budget proposal they communicated to the ministry. I found it too little ambitious. The profit proposed for 2025 by the current management of the director was, if I remember about 40 million lei. This means almost 10 lei per hectare, which, in my opinion, represents a too small amount, the National Director,” Mircea Fechet, after the government meeting.
Eliminating payroll differences
Of the 121 directors of the company, only 17 will remain in functions, according to a project of the GD on the reorganization of the company. Those who remain will have performance indicators, and in case of non -observance, they risk revocation.
“I proposed that a forest direction could not have less than 200,000 hectares. It is true that we are going to compensate, because it is not one to have a forest in the mountains or to have a forest in the plains. Today, there are forest directions with just over 20,000 hectares. National contest, organized at the headquarters of the central structure.
Also, the wage disappearances from one forest direction will be removed. “There are big differences from one forest direction to another, even inside the same forest direction, depending on how the head of the detour, how the steering director believed or how other employees believed. Salaries differ greatly for the same training and for the same age in work,” Mircea Fechet said.
The data published by Romsilva, in January, show that, in 2024, the total amount paid as bonuses was reduced by 60%, and starting January 1, 2025, according to GEO 156/2024, these bonuses were canceled. The National Forest Directorate – Romsilva registered, between 2019 and 2023, a cumulative profit of 792.65 million lei, of which 716.71 million lei went to the state budget.
The scandal of “shameless bonuses”
At his establishment, in 1991, the director had 46,472 employees, administered about 6.3 million hectares of forest fund, while, at the end of 2023, he had 14,189 employees and managed 3.12 million hectares of the state's public property. At the same time, it provides forestry services for about 1.2 million hectares of forest fund in other forms of property. In addition, Romsilva manages 22 national and natural parks and 16 praises and stalls.
Mircea Fechet has announced since January the intention to reduce the number of leadership positions in Romsilva, recalling that there is a risk that this company will not make a profit for 2024.
Subsequently, in March, Minister Fechet announced that the inspection of the Control Body of the Ministry of Environment showed that directors from Romsilva received “shame bonuses” at retirement, which reached 100,000 euros. Subsequently, they returned to the aforementioned functions.
As a result, the conditions in which the heads of the company can receive various bonuses or allowances were tightened, and some directors have been dismissed.
