The remains of climber Sandy Irvine, who disappeared 100 years ago, were discovered on Everest.
A National Geographic film crew found a shoe with fragments of a leg, as well as a sock with the initials “AC IRVINE”.
Englishman Sandy (real name Andrew Comyn Irwin) and another famous climber, George Mallory, disappeared during an expedition to Everest in 1924.
They wanted to reach the top of the mountain 30 years before Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay could do it. Fragments of Mallory's body were found in 1999, and Irwin's whereabouts were still unknown.
