A fire broke out, on Friday evening, in a room of a former hotel in Râmnicu Vâlcea, currently used as service housing for foreign citizens. More than 30 people left the building on their own or were evacuated, all refusing medical evaluation.

The fire broke out, on Friday evening, in a room located on the 1st floor of a former hotel in the North area of ​​Râmnicu Vâlcea municipality, where forces from the Râmnicu Vâlcea Fire Department, with two water and foam extinguishing vehicles, an intervention and rescue from height vehicle and a SMURD ambulance were gradually moving there.

According to ISU Vâlcea, when the crews arrived, 20 people had self-evacuated, and another 12 were evacuated by rescuers.

“The respective building has not been used as a tourist destination for at least 3 years. It is used as a work residence”, the cited source reported.

The fire was extinguished, determining that it started, most likely, from a means of heating left unattended.

All persons, foreign citizens, refused the medical evaluation.
