A new scandal in Transcarpathia: a French businessman uses the Embassy of Belarus…

A new international scandal is breaking out in Transcarpathia. Foreign environmental activists, who are trying to prevent the construction of a resort in the area of the Svydovetsky ridge, used the Ambassador of Belgium to Ukraine, Luc Jacobs, to lobby for their interests.
The leader of Transcarpathian ecoactivists, the French entrepreneur Orest del Sol, invited the Ambassador, as if on a friendly unofficial visit, to admire the mountains. And then he pathetically wrote on his Facebook that the Ambassador of Belgium in Ukraine is categorically against the construction of a resort in Transcarpathia. That is, he “framed” the Ambassador, passing it off as the official position of the Kingdom of Belgium.
This outraged the residents of Ust-Chornyansk and Yasinyansk communities, who have been trying for 10 years to get construction permits, because this is their only chance to correct the situation with unemployment and overall total economic decline. After all, they don't even have normal roads, not to mention the quality of the company-employers.
Transcarpathians first appealed to the Ambassador, but he did not answer. Now the communities have written an official request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, asking them to explain the statements of their Ambassador.
In general, the situation is strange – a French activist invites a Belgian friend, who works as an ambassador, to Transcarpathia to criticize the construction of a resort on Ukrainian soil. It looks like the use of Mr. Ambassador “in the dark” by his friend in his own interests. Or interference in the internal affairs of the state by official representatives of other countries.
