Cooperatives warn against gas cylinders. They send letters


Propane-butane gas used in cylinders is heavier than air and in the event of a leak, it may accumulate in the lower parts of the building, such as basements. This poses a risk of explosion or fire. The regulations clearly specify under what conditions gas cylinders can be used, and breaking them may result in civil and criminal liability.

Representatives of housing cooperatives in Poland remind us about the rules of using gas and the consequences of non-compliance with the regulations.
As the “Local Government Portal” reminds, in accordance with the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure, gas cylinders cannot be stored or used in buildings with more than four floors above ground.

The ban also applies to buildings with access to the gas network, regardless of their height. The exception are low-rise buildings (up to four storeys), where gas installations powered by liquefied petroleum gas can be used.

The Zakopane Housing Cooperative, quoted by the “Local Government Portal”, decided to remind tenants of the applicable regulations in special letters.
In his correspondence, the President of ZSM emphasized that failure to comply with the above-mentioned rules is not only a serious violation of building and fire safety regulations, but also a direct threat to the life and health of all residents.

The Fire Department also reminds the regulations. If they allow the use of gas cylinders, a maximum of two cylinders weighing up to 11 kg each can be stored in one premises.
They must be installed in a vertical position, at an appropriate distance from heat sources and protected against damage. The temperature in the room cannot exceed 35 degrees Celsius, and the cables connecting the cylinder with the stove must meet certain standards.
Persons who do not comply with the prohibitions may be subject to civil and criminal liability for causing a threat. Cooperatives warn that the safety of residents is a priority and violating the regulations will be treated as a serious offense.
