The Siberian drifted in the Sea of Okhotsk on a boat for 66 days: he lost 50 kilograms, lost his brother and nephew, but survived
On August 9 of this year, 49-year-old Sergei Pichugin, along with his 46-year-old brother Mikhail and 15-year-old son Ilya, boarded a boat and set off on a journey from Cape Perovsky in the Khabarovsk Territory. The journey was supposed to take only a few hours – the city of Okha in the Sakhalin region is no more than 150 kilometers away.
However, the ship lost its way and lost control, previously due to a strong storm. As a result, the travelers drifted on the open sea for 66 days. They had supplies of food and water for a week.
The family immediately informed the emergency services, but this did not help. This could not suit the people who had lost loved ones: accusing the rescuers of negligence, they themselves came to Sakhalin, rented a boat and went to explore the coast of the Amur Estuary.
Yesterday the boat was seen in the Sea of Okhotsk by the crew of the Angel ship. Mikhail was taken on board and given something to eat. He is exhausted and in serious condition.
The other two passengers were not so lucky. Ilya and Sergei died, and it is impossible to say exactly when exactly. It is unknown whether Ilya lived to see his 16th birthday: August 27 was his birthday.
